American Memorial Portraits Project
The “American Memorial Portraits” project is an effort to put a face and story with the names.
It works like this:
  • Obtain a photo or drawing of someone (Revolutionary War to the present) who died while on active duty, not a veteran who died after leaving the service…those men and women are honored on Veterans Day.
  • They can be a family member, an ancestor or someone from America’s past.
  • Portraits (8x10 or 5x7 is best) should be framed if possible.
  • Name, Rank, etc., and how the service member died, written across the bottom, will help to tell the story.
  • The public is encouraged to march in the parade with their portraits.
  • Leading up to Memorial Day portraits will be placed on display at various locations, including the Rome City Auditorium.
  • Portraits or photographs can be mailed to or dropped off at the Rome/Floyd Co. Library, Attn. Pat Millican, 205 Riverside Pkwy, Rome, GA 30161. For more information contact Pat at 706-346-7818 or e-mail at romanlegionltd@yahoo.com.
